Everything you need to know about MAICE
MAICE (My AI Coach Everyday) is an AI-powered work coaching tool designed to help you develop skills, solve work challenges, and keep pace with AI in your career. Your coach is available any time, remembers your conversations, and adapts to how you work over time.
No. Your coach is an artificial intelligence that uses the Claude Large Language Model, developed by Anthropic. It is not a human, does not have lived experience, and cannot fully understand the nuances of your specific situation the way a trusted colleague, mentor, or professional advisor would. It is a tool designed to support your development - not a substitute for human judgment.
Yes. AI systems can and do make mistakes. They can misunderstand context, provide outdated information, or give advice that is not appropriate for your specific situation. The AI can at times forget things that have been discussed previously. Always apply your own judgment to any advice or suggestion the coach provides. If something doesn't feel right, don't follow it. If you have any doubts or concerns at all, always seek the advice of a human friend, co-worker or trusted advisor.
Ignore it. Your own judgment and the judgment of people you trust should always take precedence over anything the coach suggests. If you receive advice that seems wrong, harmful, or unethical, please report it using the Contact Support link so we can review and improve the system.
Every conversation you have with your coach is saved securely. Each time you start a new session, your coach is given a summary of your recent conversations, your goals, your captured pain points, skills you are working on, and workflows you are automating. This means your coach picks up where you left off rather than starting fresh each time.
Over time your coach also adapts to your communication style, vocabulary, and the learning approaches that work best for you. The longer you use MAICE, the more your coach understands how you think and work.
It is worth noting that the coach does not have a continuous memory the way a human does - it reads your history at the start of each session rather than carrying a running memory. This means very old conversations may carry less weight than recent ones. We recommend using the Review button periodically to help your coach focus on what matters most to you right now.
Maice uses proven accelerated learning techniques, chosen based on what will help you learn fastest in each situation:
• Active recall - testing what you've learned rather than just re-reading it
• Elaboration and self-explanation - explaining concepts in your own words to deepen understanding
• The Feynman technique - explaining something as simply as possible to reveal any gaps in understanding
• Chunking - breaking complex skills into small, manageable pieces
• Deliberate practice - focusing on the hardest part of a skill with immediate feedback
• Socratic questioning - being guided to reason through problems rather than given the answer
• Immediate application - applying what you've learned to real work within 24-48 hours
• Spaced repetition - revisiting skills at increasing intervals to build long-term retention
Your coach chooses the right technique for each situation and learns which ones work best for you over time.
You can, and general AI assistants are genuinely useful for many things. Maice is different because it's built specifically to keep you focused on developing real work skills - not answer whatever question comes up next. Your coach uses proven learning techniques rather than just responding to prompts, remembers your goals and progress across sessions, and won't get pulled off track into unrelated topics. It's the difference between a general-purpose assistant and a dedicated coach who stays focused on helping you grow.
The free plan gives you genuine access to your coach - you can have real coaching conversations and make real progress. Paid raises your limits significantly, adds file uploads, and gives you full use of everything your coach can do.
No. Your coach and everything you've built together - your conversation history, the skills and progress you've made - stays with you. If you move to the free plan, you'll have lower usage limits, won't be able to upload files, and your coach will work from a shorter memory window. But your coach still remembers who you are and picks up right where you left off.
The coach is designed for work and career topics - developing skills, solving workplace challenges, automating workflows, and navigating the impact of AI on your career. It is not designed for personal relationships, medical issues, legal advice, financial advice, or general life coaching.
The coach will acknowledge your concern briefly and redirect the conversation back to work and career topics. If you need support outside the coach's scope, please seek appropriate professional help.
No. The coach is not a lawyer or financial advisor and cannot provide legal or financial advice. If you need advice in these areas, please consult a qualified professional.
No. If you are experiencing distress, anxiety, depression, or any mental health concerns, please seek support from a qualified mental health professional. The coach will always respond with care if these topics arise and encourage you to seek appropriate help. For Australian users, Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 13 11 14. For other countries, please contact your local crisis support service.
Your conversations are private. They are stored securely and are not shared with other users. The MAICE team may review conversations for the purpose of improving the product and ensuring safety, in accordance with our privacy policy.
MAICE does not use your data to train AI models. Your conversations are stored securely and used only to provide continuity in your coaching sessions - your coach reads your conversation history at the start of each session to understand your goals, progress, and communication style. This allows the coach to adapt to how you work over time, but it is not model training. For full details on how your data is used please refer to our privacy policy.
Yes. You can download a copy of all your data including conversations, skills, pain points and workflows from the Settings page at any time.
Yes. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Settings page. This action cannot be undone.
We recommend using a personal email address rather than a work email. This ensures you retain access to your coach and your learning history if you change jobs. You can change your email address at any time in Settings.
On occasion the system may take up to 60 seconds to respond on first use after a period of inactivity. This is a known limitation we are working to resolve. Subsequent responses will be much faster.
MAICE works on any device with a modern web browser - desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
Not yet. MAICE currently runs in your web browser. A dedicated app may be developed in the future.
When you click the + button to upload a file, your browser asks permission to open your file picker. This is standard browser behaviour for any website with file upload - MAICE only accesses the specific file you choose to select and upload. Nothing else on your device is accessed or read.
"Business Owner" is used throughout Maice as shorthand for whoever leads the business day to day - that might be an owner, a CEO, a General Manager, a franchisee, or another business leader role. If you're the person accountable for how the business runs, Maice's Business Owner's Coach is built for you, regardless of your formal title or whether you hold equity in the business.
